Sacrifice Of Praise

Christians are people saved by the mercy and grace of God. Jesus Christ, through His sacrificial death and resurrection, saved Christians from the power and penalty of sin. How will they live their lives from then on?

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Gal. 2:20). The Hebrews writer in Heb. 13:15 wrote that “through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess His name.” The heart of the Christian and the focus of the Church are to be constantly characterized by worship. The number of things for which we can praise God is unlimited. The more time one spends communicating with God, the more one’s eyes are opened to God’s attributes. This sacrifice of praise is an act of offering to God acknowledging His attributes! One’s duty as a royal priest is to continually offer the spiritual sacrifice of praise to God.

Thanksgiving is another aspect of worship. The Bible is filled with the language of gratitude. “Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things” (Ps. 107:8,9). The joyful, grateful heart is not that one feels “happy” or “good” about everything in life. There are things that simply are not happy, no matter how one looks at them. God does not expect one to disconnect the mind from reality. Bad things are bad things and they do happen to godly people. God grieves over the brokenness in one’s life and in this world. It is not wrong to grieve over them just as He does. The key to having a heart of gratitude amidst these difficult circumstances is being filled with an unshakable expectation that God will do something good with them. He sits sovereign over every detail of life and His character is good, perfect and loving. Let us individually and as a Church constantly offer the sacrifice of praise through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Majesty! Worship His majesty!
Unto Jesus be all glory power and praise.
Majesty! Kingdom authority!
Flow from His throne unto His own,
His anthem raise.
