Day 4 : 20170608 Message 6: Transformed service and influence

Ephesians 4 This is for the benefit of the community around us. The church is the only organization that exists for its non-members. It is better to make a difference then to make a point. – Nelson Mandela. Christianity is not a spectacle sport. All of us are called to ministry. (Ephesian 4:1) 3 basic requirements (v2 – 3) – Eph 4 : 2-3 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
  1. Humble and gentle – Star desires big name; servant big heart. – Star is big on ego; servant is big on eagerness to help. -Star waits to be serve but a servant severs everybody else. – Star big on image but a servant is big on involvement with others. – Do you want to be a star or a servant? – What is humility? – Humility is the ability to know ourselves as God knows us. Humility is to have a balance and realistic view of ourselves. Down to earth. – Gentleness is the ability to put each thought and action in the control of God. Gentleness is not weakness.
  2. Be patient and loving – Patient is the ability to take 1 step back. (not God give me patient – NOW!) – Patient people are loving. – To understand patient, queue at the longest queue or let others go first and mediate while waiting.
  3. Be unified and peaceful – Unity is to disagree in love and how to love those we disagree with. – Blessed are the peacemaker for they should be called children of God. – Peace makers are different from peace lovers. – Share instead of hoarding, give instead of taking.
Are you in shape to serve?
  1. S – discover and exercise your spiritual gifts
  2. H – follow your heart – have passions (story of lawyer who wants to be a full-time musician. – cheating sons)
  3. Use your ability for God. (introvert and extrovert, tattoo or non-tattoo are included)
  4. Embrace your experiences (story of widow started group to help other widows)
Closing Prayer (ref : William Booth) Dear God, Please have all the adoration of my heart, all the power of my will and all the influence of my life. Amen.
